Meet The Maker - Victoria Johnson Jewellery at Made In Ashford
This is Victoria Johnson! Victoria sells beautiful handmade jewellery within Made In Ashford. Victoria is a professional Silversmith who lives in Ashford and is a valued member of our creative community. We asked Victoria five questions about her work;
How long have you been making jewellery?
I’ve been making jewellery for over 20 years. I graduated in 1999 after taking a degree in Jewellery design & Metalwork and have worked for various jewellers and manufacturers over this time as well which really gave me some great experience and skills.
What inspires you?
Inspiration comes from so many places! I love nature and the outdoors so that can inspire but I am also a magpie for gemstones and so often the stones themselves will be the inspiration for designs.
What materials do you work with?
I work with silver, gold, platinum , diamonds and other gemstones. But I also use some contemporary materials in my works such as resins. I make a lot of memorial jewellery too where I can encase cremation ashes or hair from pets or people, it’s so rewarding to create this for people so they can keep a loved one with them in a special piece of jewellery.
What is your favourite piece in Made In Ashford?
My favourite piece in Made In Ashford! Oh that’s difficult! There are so many wonderful makers! At the moment I love the Oud Wood, Tobacco & Vanilla candle from We Make Scents… this is my workshop candle at the moment
If you meant which piece of mine is my favourite then I’d have to say my little silver shell pendant which is a lovely summer/beach style. I am wearing mine today
