Collection: Bumble and Bean Candle Co
Hi, I am Karen … owner, creator, tester and general jack-of-all-trades. First and foremost, I have a wonderful husband, three beautiful children and lots of lovely friends whom I love to spend my time with. I also love flowers, reading, walking, cycling and travelling and my latest passion is learning about photography!
I have always had a love of candles and spent my teenage years buying them as ornaments to make my bedroom look pretty! When we bought our first home, this love of the aesthetic nature of candles evolved to me always having a candle flickering away in the evening while reading a book, watching a good film, chatting to family and friends …. and being absolutely mesmerised by how beautiful and comforting it was ‘just’ to watch a candle do its thing! I have always unknowingly been a fan of the Danish concept of ‘Hygge.’
A couple of years’ ago my husband said “You are always buying candles. Why don’t you make your own?” So I started researching that very evening! My first attempt was a Vanilla scented Vintage Teacup Candle that I made using soy wax (you have to start pretty!) and after the two week cure time (yes I listened to what I was reading!), I had the perfect Teacup Candle …. hooray!! I then went onto make an English Rose scented one and this time it all went wrong and tunnelled (didn’t melt out to the sides) and I realised that I had a lot to learn. So the past 2 years have been about researching everything I could about wax, wicks, containers, fragrances and testing, testing, testing! My husband then went on to tell everyone that would listen that “The only time I see Karen in in the kitchen now is when she is cooking candles!”
I finally felt brave enough to launch my Christmas range of wax melts in November 2016 and I was a bag of nerves going to my first craft fair but I was absolutely overwhelmed by the response to my range and the amazing feedback that I received then and continue to receive now. I have since gone on to launch my Car Diffusers , Reed Diffusers and Candles
